It was only a matter of time until I wrote this blog post. If there's one thing I love in life, it's PIZZA.
Here are my three top pizza place in Toronto (in no particular order!). Just by chance, one is a completely vegan restaurant, one is a restaurant with a vegan section on the menu, and one doesn't have any vegan options on the set menu.
1. Apiecalypse Now
Arguably the hippest restaurant in Toronto, Apiecalypse makes GREAT pizza. They specialize in pizza and snack foods (think poutine and jalapeño poppers), and also have a monthly sandwich special. I'd say that their most well known pizzas are the Fat Mac (made Big Mac style - the top slice in the picture), the Pig Destroyer Destroyer (topped with a variety of vegan meat products), and the BBQ Buffalover. My husband LOVES those three (especially the last one), but my favourite is the Reunion Tour (the bottom slice in the picture). Unlike the rest of them, it's made with house-made ricotta rather than processed cheese, and I find it so much lighter (and healthier!). They recently opened up the second level for additional seating, and it's the perfect casual place to go to with friends.
2. Magic Oven
Magic Oven has a few locations, but I've only ever had it for delivery (either through them or on UberEats). From what I can see, they're not really a sit-down place, but rather for pick-up and delivery. They sell a variety of things, but the reason why we're here is their Vegan Pizza section (!!!). They have 7 different kinds, but my favourite is the Vegan Magic (pictured below), and my husband's favourite is the Hot Potato Magic. Both of those types are lighter and have a substantial amount of veggies on them (this is great for when I eat half of the pizza, so I don't feel like dying afterwards haha). This is the perfect place to order from if you want if you're with someone who isn't vegan since they have options for all diets.
Side note: The samosas are also vegan, and they're AMAZING. They also have vegan chocolate cake, coconut-lime cake, and chocolate walnut brownie which I hear are also good.
3. Gusto 101
And now for my long-time love, Gusto. I've been going to Gusto for years, and it's the perfect place for any occasion - birthdays, date-nights, family lunches... seriously anything. In the summer it's beautiful to sit out on the front patio, but all year round the top level is all glass and it's natural lighting and it's just a stunning location. While there isn't a vegan pizza on the menu, they'll let you create your own if you ask nicely. I order the Marghertia pizza (without cheese), and add mushrooms, tomatoes, and arugula. The house made bread is also vegan (I'm obsessed with it), as are the Sautéed Greens (also delicious).
There you have it! My three favourite places to get pizza in Toronto, and they just happen to be from three different styles of restaurants.
Did I miss your favourite place to get pizza? Let me know!
