Did anyone else try the Stranger Wings pizza by Virtuous Pie at VeganFestTO this summer?! I've been (un)patiently waiting for their Toronto location to open, but in the meantime I've made an insanely easy version of their pizza that's ALMOST as good. It's a pizza with a bianca sauce, buffalo chicken wings, crispy onions, green onions, and ranch sauce (I used creamy garlic sauce instead) - it's so delicious!!!!
Here's what you need:
- 1 batch of Cauliflower Wings
- A handful of chopped green onion
- French's crispy onions
- 1 cup of plain, raw cashews (soaked for at least 4 hours)
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 thin-crust pre-made pizza doughs
First you're going to make your Cauliflower Wings - I used Hot For Food's recipe, and they worked perfectly as a pizza topping. I used the extra hot sauce/butter mixture to drizzle on top of the finished pizza - so make sure you save it the leftovers.
While your wings are in the oven, it's time to make the sauce. Soak your cashews for at least four hours - just put them in a container with enough water to cover them, and leave them in the fridge until you're ready to use them.
Combine the cashews, water, nutritional yeast, and garlic, and blend until smooth - that's it!
Transfer about a quarter cup of the sauce to a ziplock bag (to be used to drizzle on top of the finished pizza later), and put it in the fridge.
Use the rest of the sauce to spread evenly on top of your pizza dough, and when your cauliflower wings are done you can place them on top of your pizza, along with a sprinkling of the crispy onions. My pizza dough said it took eight minutes to cook so that's what I did, but do whatever yours says! I took the wings out of the oven about five minutes early since they were going to go back in the oven on top of the pizza.
When the pizza's done, add your green onion and cut a small whole in the corner of the ziplock bag with the sauce so you can drizzle it on top. And you're done!! As I was eating it I also drizzled that extra hot sauce on top :)
