I live my life obsessing over things. If I like a song I'll listen to it every single day for two weeks straight (Hay, New Year's Day), and then get sick of it and likely never listen to it again. I'm the same way with foods, where I'll eat the same thing for for a month straight. I thought that this would be the case with my oatmeal obsession, but I'm going over two years strong on this.
That being said, while the oats have remained the base of my breakfasts, I change the toppings every couple of months or so. I always use old-fashioned rolled oats, cooked with water.
I love oats for breakfast because they're warming and filling, and keep me satiated until lunch time :)
I'm currently topping my oats with half a chopped apple, granola, dried cranberries, a couple sliced walnuts, a tiny bit of homemade maple syrup, and a splash of vanilla almond milk - it's SO good!!!
I also notice how much I love oatmeal when I don't eat oatmeal. This morning I was feeling a little lazy so I ate cereal instead. I was absolutely starving an hour later, while oats keep me full until lunch time. I won't be making that mistake again!!
