While we were in Monterey we stayed in the Hyatt Regency for two nights.
We normally wouldn't have paid for the buffet breakfast (it's just not worth it if the only thing you can eat is fruit haha...), but since it was offered to us for free we decided to check it out. I'm so glad we did, because it turns out they had more options than just fruit!
They had oats (that were made with water! woo!), so I was really happy about that. They also had a toppings bar so the first day I topped my oats with dried cranberries, pistachios, and maple syrup. I also grabbed a banana from the fruit bowl and chopped it up, and then added some strawberry jam that was on the table. I asked the waitress for some cinnamon, and then sprinkled it on the oats.
The second day I topped it with dried cranberries, dried apricots, pumpkin seeds, strawberries, bananas, and maple syrup...and when I got to the table I saw that the waitress had remembered me from yesterday and had already brought me a bowl of cinnamon :)
Oats are probably my favourite food ever (I'm not kidding, I'll eat them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner), so I was perfectly happy eating oats both mornings.
My boyfriend is not as obsessed with oats as I am, and found out that the potato/vegetable dish was vegan as well. I tried some of his and it was delicious - the sweet potatoes and the rest of the vegetables really flavoured the regular potatoes and it wasn't even that oily.
If you stay at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey (or maybe even any Hyatt Regency?), I would recommend the buffet!
