Urban Herbivore is such a favourite of mine. My first experience with them was in their Kensington Market location - this was either before I was vegan, or when I had just gone vegan. I had just eaten lunch, so all I got was a freshly squeezed juice. I assumed that they just had the one location because they fit in so well to the rest of the hippie/hipster/one-of-a-kind Kensington Market vibe. Fast forward 6 months and I'm casually strolling through the food-court in The Eaton Centre and I see their other location!! How cool is it that there is a totally vegan restaurant in the middle of the mall! I love how mainstream veganism is becoming :)
My go-to is the TLC sandwich (Tomato, Lettuce, Coconut 'bacon'). It's served on their homemade bread, and it's AMAZING.
Another thing that's amazing about Urban Herbivore are their cupcakes. They are so delicious and so convenient...they're actually too convenient, and I eat them all the time :)
Story time: One time as I was waiting for my order, two girls came up and we're looking at the cupcakes and didn't realize that they were vegan. When they noticed the vegan sign that said 'ewwww vegan cupcakes' and walked away.
SERIOUSLY??? Eggs (chicken periods) and cows milk (breast milk from another species) are ok, but you draw the line at vegetables??? I can't handle people sometimes.
